Who we are

We are a team of physicians and advisors who were once in your shoes. Every IMGMatch
mentor is an international medical graduate who successfully matched into a U.S. residency program

Our mentors hail from a wide range of specialties, from family medicine and internal medicine
to competitive fields like orthopedic surgery and plastic surgery, and they all have excelled in their careers. We’ve walked the difficult path to residency and are passionate about sharing our
experience and strategies with the next generation of IMGs.

Each mentor on our platform is carefully selected for their outstanding achievements and their commitment to teaching. Our team includes top USMLE scorers (90th percentile and above) and graduates of renowned residency programs

We combine academic excellence with real-world insight. Most importantly, we are a community when you join IMGMatch, you’re not just getting a consultant; you’re gaining a partner and advocate invested in your success. Together, we’ll turn your ambition into achievement.

Why we do this

Why we started

IMGMatch was born out of a recognition of the gaps in support that many IMGs face. Our founders saw countless talented international graduates struggle with the U.S. residency match simply due to unfamiliarity with the system, lack of mentorship, or inadequate resources. In fact, studies have shown that over 51% of international trainees felt they lacked sufficient guidance for key career steps.ama-assn.org

We knew something had to change.

Having navigated the process ourselves, we understood that IMGs need more than generic advice they need personalized mentorship from those who truly understand the IMG experience. Traditional consulting services were often impersonal, extremely costly, or not tailored to

IMG needs. We started IMGMatch in 2021 to fill this void. Our goal was to create an affordable, comprehensive service that not only improves an applicant’s credentials on paper but also builds
their confidence and skills for long-term success. By forming a community-driven mentorship platform, we ensure no IMG has to journey alone. Every strategy we share, every resource we provide, and every success story we celebrate reinforces why we began this mission: to help qualified IMGs overcome obstacles and secure their rightful place in U.S. residency programs.

Dr. Austin Chen

Austin is completing his residency training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, with a plan to focus on specializing in Microsurgery Fellowship. When he first started off on his journey to match into residency training in the United States, he found the process unclear and with so many unknowns, compared to the traditional U.S. medical student. Having to forge his own path, achieving USMLE scores in the 80th percentile and over 50 publications, he hopes to use his experience to simplify and optimize the journey for future IMGs. He truly believes that most, if not applicants, have a chance of matching. It is just a matter of the right game plan!

Dr. Khaled Alameddine

Dr. Khaled is completing his advanced training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, with a specialized focus on Aesthetic Surgery. As an international medical graduate (IMG) himself, he understands the challenges and complexities of the U.S. residency match process firsthand.

With USMLE scores in the 90th percentile, Dr. Khaled has not only navigated the process successfully but has also dedicated himself to mentorship and education, helping other IMGs achieve their dreams. His passion for teaching, strategic planning, and maximizing every applicant’s potential makes him a highly sought-after mentor.
